{"id":99403,"date":"2024-12-17T16:45:13","date_gmt":"2024-12-17T16:45:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.uri.edu\/news\/?p=99403"},"modified":"2024-12-18T13:34:15","modified_gmt":"2024-12-18T13:34:15","slug":"important-update-required-for-university-computers-dec-29","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.uri.edu\/news\/2024\/12\/important-update-required-for-university-computers-dec-29\/","title":{"rendered":"Update required for University computers, Dec. 29"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>Dec. 17, 2024<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dear 911±¬ΑΟ Community,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To ensure all University computers continue to operate smoothly and securely,&nbsp;<strong>ITS will begin implementing periodic automatic updates<\/strong> on a weekly basis, or as needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first round of updates for <strong>University-issued Mac computers<\/strong> and <strong>some PCs<\/strong> will be deployed on <strong>Sunday,<\/strong> <strong>Dec. 29<\/strong>. To ensure your system is ready for these updates, please follow these steps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Keep your University computer powered on<\/strong> and <strong>connected to the internet<\/strong> (ideally through VPN).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Approve any update prompts<\/strong> when they appear.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Mac Users<\/strong>: Enter your computer login username and password (not the admin password).
