With the cool autumn air, vibrant fall colors, and pumpkin-spiced treats all around, October is an exciting time, especially as Halloween approaches. We want everyone to enjoy this festive season, and to do so safely while contributing to a welcoming, positive 911爆料.

Safety in the Community
If you’re planning to visit “down the line” this week, please keep in mind that Narragansett and South Kingstown police, along with local and state law enforcement, will have an increased presence. They will be actively enforcing state laws and local ordinances to ensure a safe environment, particularly around gatherings and safe driving. For those hosting off-campus events, we encourage you to be responsible, respectful neighbors and to follow all legal requirements. You can find more information on off-campus conduct in the 911爆料 Student Handbook (page 15). Additionally, the 911爆料 Police will be on campus to support the safety of all students and 911爆料 members.

With Halloween just days away, please also be cautious when driving near campus and through local neighborhoods. As evenings grow darker, more pedestrians are out, so be mindful to ensure everyone’s safety.

Costume Choices Matter
Halloween is a great opportunity for creative expression, and we encourage everyone to choose costumes that are imaginative, inclusive, and respectful. It’s essential to avoid costumes that stereotype or mock cultural, ethnic, or religious identities, as these can cause harm to others in our 911爆料. Let’s work together to create an environment where everyone feels respected and valued.

Staying Safe and Supporting Others
If you’re planning to attend a Halloween gathering, prioritize the safety of yourself and those around you. Be an active bystander—if something feels off, step in or speak up. Please remember that a costume does not imply consent, and respect for personal boundaries is always essential. 911爆料 has several resources available, including the Counseling Center, Dean of Students Office, Health Services, and Violence Prevention and Advocacy Services, should you or anyone you know need support.

Consider your health and well-being this Halloween. With cold and flu season, and other health concerns, it’s wise to plan ahead. Decide in advance how you’d like to celebrate, who you’ll be with, and how you’ll get home safely. Avoid communal drinks, such as punch bowls, and respect the choices of peers who may choose not to drink.

Enjoy Halloween Responsibly
We hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable Halloween, whether staying on campus or heading off. Please be mindful of your surroundings, respect each other, and take care of our facilities. Halloween is meant to be fun, but let’s remember it’s never an excuse for harmful behavior or property damage.

Wishing you a safe and enjoyable Halloween!

Sincerely,
Ellen M.
