  {"id":98398,"date":"2024-10-21T20:23:52","date_gmt":"2024-10-21T20:23:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.uri.edu\/news\/?p=98398"},"modified":"2024-10-21T20:23:53","modified_gmt":"2024-10-21T20:23:53","slug":"notice-of-treatment-and-disposal-of-reactive-chemical-waste-on-oct-23","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.uri.edu\/news\/2024\/10\/notice-of-treatment-and-disposal-of-reactive-chemical-waste-on-oct-23\/","title":{"rendered":"Notice of treatment and disposal of reactive chemical waste on Oct. 23"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong><em>This message is on behalf of the University\u2019s Department of Environmental Health and Safety<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Oct. 21, 2024<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The University of Rhode Island Environmental Health and Safety Department, along<br>with Clean Earth Waste Solutions, will oversee the removal, treatment and disposal of<br>reactive\/shock sensitive hazardous waste from certain locations on campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These chemicals will be removed from the Beaupre Center for Chemical and Forensic<br>Sciences, Avedisian Hall, Fascitelli Center for Advanced Engineering, Woodward Hall,<br>and the Hazardous Waste Main Accumulation Building at 53 Flagg Road. At the<br>Narragansett Bay Campus, this task will be completed at the Hazardous Waste Main<br>Accumulation Area, located south of the Furtado Building.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Removal and treatment activities will begin at 4 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 23, and<br>conclude at approximately 7 a.m. the same day. Access to limited portions of these<br>buildings and the Beaupre Center loading dock area may be restricted during that time. Additionally, access to the Science Quad may also be restricted.
