{"id":90993,"date":"2023-12-08T18:49:55","date_gmt":"2023-12-08T18:49:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.uri.edu\/news\/?p=90993"},"modified":"2023-12-08T18:54:01","modified_gmt":"2023-12-08T18:54:01","slug":"new-university-policy-on-language-access-and-renewed-policy-on-adverse-weather-and-other-emergencies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.uri.edu\/news\/2023\/12\/new-university-policy-on-language-access-and-renewed-policy-on-adverse-weather-and-other-emergencies\/","title":{"rendered":"New University policy on Language Access and renewed policy on Adverse Weather and Other Emergencies"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>December 8, 2023<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Effective December 7, 2023, the University has instituted a new policy on<em> Language Access<\/em> and approved updates to the University policy on <em>Adverse Weather and Other Emergencies.<\/em> Both of these policies can be found at the University\u2019s Administrative Policies <a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/policies\/\">webpage<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Language Access<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The policy on <em>Language Access<\/em> promotes meaningful access and equal opportunity for Hearing\/Speech Impaired and Limited English Proficient individuals participating in University Programs or Activities and Services; sets University-wide standards on how the University fulfills its organizational responsibilities and commitment to serving linguistically diverse persons; and defines roles and responsibilities for all parties involved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Adverse Weather and Other Emergencies<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The policy on <em>Adverse Weather and Other Emergencies<\/em> provides information regarding the operations of the University relative to both state-issued weather emergencies and University-declared closures.
