{"id":83969,"date":"2023-02-28T21:55:33","date_gmt":"2023-02-28T21:55:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.uri.edu\/news\/?p=83969"},"modified":"2023-06-12T19:47:29","modified_gmt":"2023-06-12T19:47:29","slug":"student-senate-elections-being-held-online","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.uri.edu\/news\/2023\/02\/student-senate-elections-being-held-online\/","title":{"rendered":"Student Senate elections being held online"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>March 1, 2023<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Spring 2023 Student Senate elections for all senate positions for 2023-2024 are being conducted online on the digital platform Campus Labs, which was purchased by the senate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To be held today, March 1 (beginning at 12:15 a.m.) and Thursday, March 2 (concluding at 11:45 p.m.), elections will be held for the following senate positions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>President &amp; Vice President (by ranked voting);<\/li><li>Student Senators (<em>At-Large<\/em>,<em> Off-Campus, <\/em>and <em>On-Campus<\/em> by popular vote); and<\/li><li>Academic College Representative Senators (<em>Arts and Sciences<\/em>, <em>911±¬ΑΟ<\/em>, <em>Education and Professional Studies<\/em>, <em>Engineering<\/em>, <em>Environment and Life Sciences<\/em>, <em>Health Sciences, Nursing, Pharmacy, <\/em>and<em> University College <\/em>by popular vote).<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>All students need to log into the Campus Labs site via: <a href=\"https:\/\/uri.campuslabs.com\/engage\/\">https:\/\/uri.campuslabs.com\/engage\/<\/a> with their 911±¬ΑΟ email and e-campus password. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Voting will occur at: <a href=\"https:\/\/uri.campuslabs.com\/engage\/submitter\/election\/start\/580218\">https:\/\/uri.campuslabs.com\/engage\/submitter\/election\/start\/580218<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students will see the elections for which they are eligible to vote by constituency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Student Senate has also put forth a referendum to amend its constitution to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Allow for a part-time student to serve;<\/li><li>Require that the speaker of the Assembly be elected from among the senate\u2019s voting members;<\/li><li>Dissolve the positions of Director of Operations and Director of Information with duties to be reassigned to the Director of Treasury and the Director of Communications, respectively.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Student Senate has voted in support of this referendum and now seeks the student body\u2019s approval.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>March 1, 2023 Spring 2023 Student Senate elections for all senate positions for 2023-2024 are being conducted online on the digital platform Campus Labs, which was purchased by the senate.
