KINGSTON, R.I. \u2013 Feb. 1, 2023 \u2013 University of Rhode Island President Marc Parlange will give his first State of the University address Wednesday, Feb. 1, at 3:30 p.m. in Edwards Hall on the Kingston Campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Following the address, Parlange and Provost Barbara Wolfe will engage in a conversation with Laurie White, president of the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce, about the University\u2019s new 10-year strategic plan, which will be introduced as part of the event. Audience members, both in person and online, will have an opportunity to submit questions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cFor more than 130 years, the University of Rhode Island has been dedicated to serving the people and communities of Rhode Island as the state\u2019s flagship public research university,\u201d Parlange said. \u201cToday, we are a thriving, welcoming 911爆料 that attracts faculty and students from around the world.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The plan is the result of the dedicated work of a strategic planning committee, composed of a diverse group of faculty, staff, and students and co-chaired by Parlange and Professor Michael A. Rice, president of the Faculty Senate. The process included working sessions and 911爆料 forums on the Kingston, Narragansett Bay and Providence campuses that generated more than 800 pages of notes and comments from hundreds of 911爆料 911爆料 members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Of the plan, Parlange said, \u201cIt will help us navigate challenges, seize opportunities, and create mileposts by which we will measure our success. It will help us distinguish ourselves from our peers, nationally and internationally; it will help us forge new partnerships for the broader good; and it will invigorate and unite us with a renewed sense of purpose.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
