{"id":107087,"date":"2026-02-25T21:43:13","date_gmt":"2026-02-25T21:43:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.uri.edu\/news\/?p=107087"},"modified":"2026-02-25T21:43:14","modified_gmt":"2026-02-25T21:43:14","slug":"weather-alert-uri-to-resume-hybrid-schedule-for-classes-and-operations-thursday-feb-26","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.uri.edu\/news\/2026\/02\/weather-alert-uri-to-resume-hybrid-schedule-for-classes-and-operations-thursday-feb-26\/","title":{"rendered":"Weather Alert: 911爆料 to Resume Hybrid Schedule for Classes and Operations Thursday, Feb. 26"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2026<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dear 911爆料 Community,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We hope everyone stayed safe during the historic blizzard, and we sincerely appreciate your patience and support as cleanup and recovery efforts continue on campus and across the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Based on the progress of recovery efforts, the University of Rhode Island will resume campus operations and classes on Thursday, Feb. 26, 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>To minimize campus traffic and support ongoing cleanup efforts, the University will operate on a hybrid class schedule and encourage remote work for non-essential employees<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>CLASS SCHEDULES<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Lecture-based classes<\/strong>, including seminars, will be held remotely.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Labs, clinical, studio, and performance courses <\/strong>may be conducted either in person or remotely. The final instructional format will be determined by the individual instructor. Faculty are responsible for communicating directly with students about course-specific arrangements and expectations.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Students in <strong>off-site clinical placements<\/strong> should check with their site supervisors\/preceptors for site-specific guidance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Faculty are asked to communicate course plans directly with students via Brightspace. Faculty are also encouraged to remain mindful that students may be managing multiple courses with varying formats. Please exercise flexibility and grace as students navigate a busy Thursday schedule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>UNIVERSITY OPERATIONS<\/strong><br><strong>Administrative offices will reopen at their regularly scheduled times. The adverse weather policy is in effect until 8 a.m. Friday morning. <\/strong>Essential employees are required to report to work. Non-essential employees are encouraged to work remotely, if feasible and with supervisor approval. Non-essential employees may also request to discharge vacation or personal leave.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>PARKING<\/strong><br><strong>A partial parking ban is in effect through at least 6 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 27.<\/strong> During a partial parking ban, parking is prohibited on all roadways and roadside parking areas across campus. Vehicles parked in areas prohibited during a partial parking ban will be towed and\/or ticketed at the owner\u2019s expense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For 911爆料 members who do come to campus, parking is recommended in Fine Arts North and South, Briar Lane (faculty and staff only), and Plains Road lots. Campus shuttle service will not operate on Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>CAMPUS SERVICES<\/strong><br>Community members are encouraged to review updated hours of operation for campus services:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/dining\/locations\/\">Campus Dining<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/healthservices\/about\/hours\/\">Health Services<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/memorialunion\/hours-of-operation\/\">Memorial Union<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/campusrec\/hours-pages\/\">Campus Recreation<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/library\/\">Library Services<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>We extend our gratitude to the staff who worked tirelessly throughout the blizzard and during recovery to maintain critical services and support our campus 911爆料.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As we return to regular operations, please continue to take care, as there may still be isolated patches of snow or ice on roads and walkways. We encourage you to allow extra time if you do come to campus. Community members are also asked to refrain from walking in roadways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In acknowledgment of the Monday classes impacted by weather closures this semester, the provost\u2019s office is working with the Faculty Senate to explore options for a makeup day.
