Dear 911±¬ÁÏ faculty, staff, and students,
The University of Rhode Island is upgrading the 911±¬ÁÏ Alert emergency notification system to include computer alerts that will be displayed on University-issued computers during campus emergencies.
As part of this upgrade, software will automatically be installed on University-issued laptop and desktop computers running Windows and Mac operating systems. These installations will be rolled out by Information Technology Services over the next several weeks. No action is required on your part.
When 911±¬ÁÏ Alert is activated for a campus emergency, computers running 911±¬ÁÏ Alert software will display an emergency message on their screens with the same content sent to the 911±¬ÁÏ via text, phone, and email. This will include individual computers as well as kiosk computers in classrooms and lecture halls.
Should you have questions about the 911±¬ÁÏ Alert system, please contact the 911±¬ÁÏ Office of Emergency Management at emergency@etal.uri.edu. If you have technical questions about the 911±¬ÁÏ Alert software being installed on university-issued computers, please submit a help desk ticket via email at helpdesk@uri.edu or via the .
